Robert Lewandowski says he’s already looking forward to next season and believes Barcelona can win titles in 2024-25.
This has been a difficult season for Xavi’s side, as Barcelona has failed to win any trophies and will finish second to Real Madrid.
Lewandowski believes his squad must improve and has urged Barcelona to have more control and ambition next season if they are to repeat as Spanish champions.
“We need to add points. Obviously, you must always aim to win by a landslide while playing well because we are FC Barcelona, always striving for one more goal, regardless of how many you have scored. But it must be done with control and steadiness,” he told Mundo Deportivo.
“To win the League, you must be ambitious; nevertheless, if you realize that you are unable to win, you must maintain control and strive not to lose while adding points. We are developing the mentality for next season; I would like the season to begin now, and that is the vibe I am getting from within the locker room.”
Lewandowski also cited the team’s youthful players as a reason for confidence heading into the next season, believing they can build on a challenging season.
“We know that our squad has huge potential, with extremely good players, and that we can win more games and trophies next season. I can also score more goals than last season, possibly even two, because I am in excellent physical condition,” he continued.
“Furthermore, this year we’ve played with a lot of young players, and I believe it’s been a terrific experience for them. This experience, both for the young players and for the entire team, will help us win games that we lost this season. “I am confident that if we focus on ourselves, we can win titles in La Liga and the Champions League, yet success is partly dependent on luck. This year we also had bad luck with injuries”
Barcelona’s season ends against Sevilla, but many players, including Lewandowski, will have a busy summer. Euro 2024 begins next month in June, with several players also scheduled to compete at the Paris Olympics.
