England player ratings vs Denmark (1-1) – as Kieran Trippier was in full action while Anthony Gordon was benched in EURO 2024

Gareth Southgate’s team battled hard to a draw against Denmark in their second Euro 2024 group game. Here are some player grades.

Since England beat Serbia 1-0 on Sunday and other teams in the group lost, they knew that a win in Frankfurt would guarantee they would win their group and move on to the next round. The first 15 minutes were quiet because of nerves and comments about the pitch in Frankfurt. However, Harry Kane’s goal made things liven up the game.

Kane was in the right place at the right time to slide the ball past Kasper Schmeichel. This came after Kyle Walker did a great job winning the ball back high up the field for England. After that goal, Gareth Southgate’s team sat back, and they paid for it when Morten Hjumland’s amazing long-range shot went past Jordan Pickford and woke up the English fans in Frankfurt.

To be honest, England was ahead at halftime because Denmark was in charge of the first half and trying to score a second goal. The second half got off to a very even start, with neither goalkeeper being pushed too often in the early going.

Southgate made three changes in the middle of the second half. He had already brought on Conor Gallagher to replace Trent Alexander-Arnold in order to try to take back control of the game and make the Danish defense think. As soon as Ollie Watkins replaced Kane, he tested Schmeichel.

England, on the other hand, never got going, and Schmeichel was rarely put to the test in the Denmark goal. With a point, England is in charge of their own fate and is at the top of their group.
