Manchester United have signed this worldclass player as Casemero Replacement after he is set to leave this summer

According to a source, Manchester United has considered Edson Alvarez, a midfielder for West Ham United, as a possible Casemiro replacement.

After a lackluster season, Casemiro is up for grabs this summer. United intends to use the proceeds from the Brazilian to help generate around £100 million to reinvest in the team.

Because Casemiro is the only naturally defensive-minded midfield player in the team, his departure would necessitate finding a replacement, and according to Fabrizio Romano, club officials have talked about moving for Alvarez.

Alvarez, a Mexico international who turns 27 in October, signed with Erik ten Hag’s Ajax in 2019, and it’s believed that the Dutch manager has indicated an interest in getting back together.

Any arrangement would probably turn out to be difficult, though. Alvarez, who wowed after spending £35 million to join West Ham last summer, has a deal with the team that runs until 2028.

Alvarez was “one hour away” from boarding the plane to London in 2022, but Ajax prevented him from leaving. This indicates that Alvarez was on the verge of joining Chelsea.

A year later, he was promoted to the Premier League and adapted to life in England’s top division with ease. After making 42 appearances in all competitions in the previous season, Alvarez clearly attracted the attention of United’s decision-makers.

The expectation is that INEOS and United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe will work to restrict Ten Hag’s influence over the team’s moves. The manager may lose his power to reject both incoming and exiting decisions, but he would still be able to provide feedback.

Ten Hag has already been in charge of a wave of former Ajax players. While Frenkie de Jong and Brian Brobbey were previously targets, Andre Onana, Lisandro Martinez, and Antony have all relocated to Old Trafford.

Center-back Matthijs de Ligt, another former Ajax star, was also considered earlier this summer, but United is hesitant to pursue their interest because of the expense of bringing him away from Bayern Munich.
