Liverpool are reportedly competing with Arsenal and Manchester United for the signing of SL Benfica star Antonio Silva this summer, according to Caught Offside.
With Joel Matip set to leave Liverpool as a free agent, the Reds are prioritizing the acquisition of a new centre-back to replace him. Several names have been linked with a move to Anfield recently, including Goncalo Inacio, Willian Pacho, and Levi Colwill, but Antonio Silva is also on their radar.
Caught Offside reports that Liverpool have shown interest in Silva and have already engaged in talks about signing him. However, the process won’t be straightforward, as Benfica is demanding around £86 million for the Portuguese defender.
Sky Sports adds that Manchester United and Arsenal are also interested in Silva and have made contact regarding a potential deal.
Silva is reportedly keen on playing in the Premier League, making Liverpool, Arsenal, and Manchester United attractive options for him this summer.
Manchester United, having had a disappointing season, are planning to overhaul their defense for the next season. Raphael Varane is set to leave the club, and Victor Lindelof, Harry Maguire, and Jonny Evans could also depart in the coming weeks.
Arsenal, too, appear to be in the market for a new centre-back, as they have been linked with several players recently.
Silva, considered one of the best young defenders in the world, would be a valuable addition for any of these clubs. However, it remains to be seen whether Liverpool, Arsenal, or Manchester United can secure his signature in the upcoming transfer window.
