SHOCKING NEWS: Coming Live From Old Trafford, Manchester United Make Move To Sign Ex-Premier League FLOP Who Squandered A Staggering 27 Big Chances In The Premier League In A 18-Month Spell With Chelsea. Manchester United Are Looking For A New Striker Who Will Provide Competition For Rasmus Hojlund And Have Turned Attention To The Spanish International Player Who Is Also Ready To Make The Move. Manchester United Makes To Sign Premier League ‘UNWANTED’ Striker.

Manchester United are set to bring in a new striker this summer to provide competition for Rasmus Hojlund next season. While Bologna’s Joshua Zirkzee has been frequently mentioned as a target this month, reports from Turkey suggest United have a different strategy.

According to Sabah (page 14), Fenerbahce is pursuing Alvaro Morata, who currently has a £10 million release clause in his contract with Atletico Madrid. Fenerbahce hopes to leverage the influence of their manager, Jose Mourinho, to attract the striker, offering him an annual salary of around £3.8 million.

However, they face significant competition, as Morata’s representatives are reportedly in discussions with several European clubs, including Manchester United.

Should United pursue Morata?

Despite Morata’s career-best season last year, where he scored 21 goals and provided five assists in 48 appearances across all competitions, there are suggestions he may leave Atletico Madrid. The club might be preparing for the future by considering promoting Samu Omorodion, which could prompt Morata to seek a new challenge. Fenerbahce is interested in reuniting him with Mourinho, whom Morata played under at Chelsea. United, also linked with Morata, should reconsider their interest.

Although Morata had an impressive season, he is 31 and may soon be past his prime. Historically, United has faced issues with signing high-profile players on substantial wages, only to later struggle with their lack of resale value. Morata, potentially falling into this category, might come at a lower transfer cost but commands high wages, reportedly around £220,000 per week. Even if he were willing to accept a pay cut, doubts remain about his reliability, particularly given his record of missing clear-cut chances. During his 18-month tenure at Chelsea, Morata missed a staggering 27 big chances in the Premier League.

Therefore, United should likely avoid pursuing Morata and focus on alternative targets to strengthen their attacking options.
