THE PLAYER CHOSE NAPOLI OVER REAL MADRID, WHAT A SET BACK FOR REAL MADRID

Napoli has concluded a deal with Real Madrid for defender Rafa Marin, who spent the previous season at Alaves. The deal is reported to be around €12 million and includes buy-back options for Real Madrid. Marin, who just turned 22 in May, is a product of the Real Madrid youth academy but has not played for the club at the senior level. His performances on loan with Alaves have been instrumental in inspiring Antonio Conte to push for the transfer to Napoli

The deal between Napoli and Real Madrid for Rafa Marin includes some complicated buy-back clauses ranging from 25 million to 70 million euros. Additionally, Napoli has an option to pay Real Madrid another 10 million euros in June 2025, which would increase the buy-back clause. If this option is exercised, Real Madrid would have to pay 50 million euros to reacquire Marin in 2026 and 70 million euros in 2027

Rafa Marin, a 22-year-old center-back from Spain, is on the verge of making his first signing for Napoli under the management of Antonio Conte. He spent the 2023-24 campaign on loan with Alaves in LaLiga, where he made 35 competitive appearances. Despite not having made a competitive appearance for Real Madrid’s senior side, he had a successful breakout season in the Spanish top flight. Marin is known as a right-footed center-back who can also play at left-back and has represented Spain at the Under-21 level.

Negotiations between Napoli and Real Madrid for Rafa Marin are underway, with an agreement close pending a few final details. Marin is eager to secure more playing time following a strong season in La Liga and has agreed to terms with Napoli. Despite discussions of him potentially replacing Nacho at Madrid, Marin has opted to move to Napoli for more opportunities
