Defender Sepp van den Berg has been linked with a potential departure from Merseyside following a promising loan spell at German club Mainz 05 during the 23/24 season.
According to Dutch news outlet Eindhovens Dagblad, PSV is interested in securing a deal to bring Van den Berg to the Eredivisie.
Reportedly, Liverpool is seeking a transfer fee of €20 million for the 22-year-old, but PSV aims to negotiate around €15 million to €16 million.
If PSV successfully completes the transfer for €16 million, it would mark a record-breaking fee for the club.
However, earlier reports indicated that Slot is open to giving Van den Berg an opportunity to showcase his skills during pre-season.
According to The Athletic, Van den Berg posted the highest average speed in Liverpool’s pre-season fitness assessments.
In a recent interview with De Telegraaf via The Athletic, Van den Berg discussed his future, stating, “(Liverpool) haven’t shown confidence in me all this time, but they do want to obstruct my future. I want to continue playing every week and continue developing myself.”
