Carles Puyol gives valuable advice to Hansi Flick

Barcelona successfully hired German coach Hansi Flick to replace Spanish coach Xavi Hernandez.

Flick aims to revive Barcelona’s fortunes after a challenging season and plans a thorough overhaul of the team before the new season begins.

This includes identifying departures and necessary new signings amid the club’s financial difficulties.

Barcelona legend Carles Puyol emphasized the importance for Flick to part ways with the Barcelona trio if he aims for success.

Puyol specifically highlighted Dutch player Frenkie de Jong as the first to be let go this summer, citing his inconsistent performances, frequent injuries, and high wages.

Puyol believes that moving on from de Jong represents a pivotal opportunity for Barcelona to undergo significant renewal.

In addition, the legendary defender emphasized that the second player Barcelona should sell is Ter Stegen, identifying him as a significant weakness for the team.

Puyol explained to Radio Catalina that Stegen often concedes avoidable goals that undermine the team’s efforts and is rarely decisive in crucial matches.

Puyol asserted that for Flick to achieve success with Barcelona, addressing the issue of Stegen is imperative due to the titles lost in recent years because of him.

Furthermore, Puyol concluded his remarks by naming the third player who should be offloaded from Barcelona, Brazilian winger Rafinha.

Puyol argued that Barcelona should seek a more consistent and skilled winger than Rafinha, whose performance levels vary too greatly throughout the season.
