One player who has caught attention, particularly impressing Deco, is Victor Gyokeres, who had a standout debut season in Portugal.
He joined Sporting Portugal after impressing in the Championship, but nobody expected him to adapt so quickly and make such a spectacular impact. He became the offensive focal point for the Lisbon team and emerged as their star player, evidenced by his impressive tally of 43 goals and 15 assists across all competitions. These remarkable numbers firmly establish him among the top forwards currently playing.
He played a crucial role in Sporting’s Primeira Liga triumph at the José Alvalade Stadium, attracting interest from several top-tier clubs. Manchester United, Chelsea, Arsenal, Atlético Madrid, Tottenham Hotspur, and Juventus have all shown interest in the Swedish international, with Barcelona now joining the race.
Laporta and Deco are considering adding more attacking options for Hans-Dieter Flick, and Gyokeres has particularly impressed their scouts. However, acquiring the former Coventry City, Swansea City, Brighton & Hove Albion, and Sant Pauli player will come at a significant cost—likely exceeding 65 million euros.
