A former Liverpool star has revealed what Mo Salah thinks of new boss Arne Slot after just a brief period working with him.
So far, Salah has spent his entire career at Liverpool under Jurgen Klopp, securing one Premier League title, a Champions League trophy, an FA Cup, and a Carabao Cup, establishing himself as one of the Premier League’s greatest players.
His abilities perfectly matched Klopp’s approach, and now there is interest in seeing how the 32-year-old adapts under Slot, who has taken over from Klopp. Without international tournament duties, Salah returned to pre-season in outstanding shape and excelled in the 6-Minute Race Test (6MRT), with his performance described as “phenomenal” by fitness coach Conall Murtagh.
Slot has his own approach, but according to former Liverpool goalkeeper Adrian, he will retain many of the same aspects of the playing style.
Adrian, who has moved to Real Betis, remains in touch with Salah and other former teammates and they have been enjoying working with Slot.
“I talk almost daily with many of the squad members—Kostas Tsimikas, Mo Salah,” he told The Athletic. “They say they like it; the philosophy is similar to Jurgen’s: be intense, direct, play with pace, press high, and be bold. Liverpool’s squad is suited for that. The new coach will adapt well to the players he has. I wish him the best.”
Ironically, Liverpool will begin their United Season pre-season tour against Adrian and Betis on Saturday.
They will also face Arsenal, Manchester United, and Sevilla across the pond before starting their Premier League campaign against Ipswich on August 17.
So far, under Slot, the Reds have not made any new signings, which has frustrated fans.
