Barcelona have officially announced that midfielder Oriol Romeu has been loaned to Girona for the entire season, as revealed on Monday. Romeu returns to Girona following an underwhelming period at Barça, where he struggled to fill the role left by Sergio Busquets’ departure and was eventually substituted by Andreas Christensen, who was played out of position to provide stability in a key area of Xavi Hernández’s setup.
Oriol is now back at the club where he previously enjoyed significant success before moving to Barça, and he will immediately take over from Aleix García, who transferred to Bayer Leverkusen earlier this summer.
