Martin Zubimendi has made his feelings clear on Real Sociedad transfer as ‘love’ for Liverpool legend revealed

Martin Zubimendi has expressed his stance on a potential transfer from Real Sociedad amid interest from Liverpool.

Arne Slot’s team is looking to acquire a new defensive midfielder this summer, with the new Liverpool manager yet to make any additions to his squad. Improving the midfield is a priority for Liverpool, which currently lacks depth in this position.

Stefan Bajcetic has returned from injury after a limited appearance in the 2023/24 season, but it remains uncertain how quickly he will regain form this season.

Sky Sports reports that Liverpool’s primary target is Zubimendi, who made a strong impression for Spain in the latter part of the Euro 2024 final against England. Despite previous interest from Arsenal and a €60 million release clause in his contract, Zubimendi has shown little inclination to leave his current club.

Last winter, Zubimendi stated he had no intention of leaving Real Sociedad during the season, emphasizing his contentment and alignment with the club’s values. He also mentioned to Spanish outlet Sport that discussing transfer rumors, especially in the middle of the season, was not desirable given the current campaign’s context.

Nonetheless, Zubimendi spoke positively about Bayer Leverkusen manager and Liverpool legend Xabi Alonso, noting the appreciation and guidance he received from Alonso, which helped him improve his understanding of game tactics and ball distribution.
