HERE WE GO: Man united complete the signing of £50m defender after Leny Yoro injury set back, player to undergo medical tomorrow – announcement tomorrow morning

Leny Yoro’s recent injury, which will keep him out for three months, has prompted Manchester United to accelerate their search for a new centre-back. While they have been monitoring Matthijs de Ligt, they are also exploring other options. One such option, as reported by Corriere dello Sport, is Juventus defender Gleison Bremer. The Italian newspaper suggests Manchester United might make a significant offer to attract the Brazilian defender soon.

Liverpool is also showing interest in Bremer, even though their transfer activity has been relatively subdued so far.

In May, Manchester United was reported to be very interested in Bremer, but their focus has recently shifted to Yoro and De Ligt. Corriere dello Sport notes that Bremer’s contract with Juventus has a release clause worth around £55.6 million (66 million euros), expiring on August 10. This creates a critical financial decision for both Manchester United and Juventus.

Replacing Bremer would be a tough task for Juventus. The 27-year-old has been one of Serie A’s top defenders recently, making it challenging to find a comparable replacement.

If Manchester United successfully acquires Bremer, it might end their interest in De Ligt. Nevertheless, strengthening their central defense is crucial due to injuries that have forced manager Erik ten Hag to depend on Harry Maguire or Victor Lindelof. Bremer’s defensive capabilities and compatibility with Ten Hag’s strategies make him a strong candidate, potentially forming a solid pairing with Lisandro Martinez.

However, Juventus may be reluctant to sell such a key player. The decision now depends on whether Manchester United is willing to meet Bremer’s release clause of £55.6 million to finalize his transfer. This move could potentially conclude their pursuit of De Ligt.
