According to footballwave, scouts from both Manchester City and Liverpool were present at Bayer Leverkusen’s 3-0 victory over Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga last weekend. The report indicates that representatives from the two Premier League clubs attended the game to evaluate Bayer star Florian Wirtz and Bayern’s Jamal Musiala. Both players are not only highly valued talents in Germany but are also considered some of the leading young prospects in Europe.
Liverpool had previously been seen as leading contenders to secure the signatures of both players. However, City’s attendance at the recent match suggests that Liverpool might encounter significant competition in their efforts.
Musiala, 20, transitioned to Bayern Munich from Chelsea’s youth academy in 2019. Since then, he has made 150 appearances for the club across all competitions, with 38 goals and 26 assists.
Wirtz, meanwhile, has been a crucial player for Leverkusen since transferring from Koln in 2020. This season, the midfielder has notably excelled, scoring five goals and providing nine assists, helping Xabi Alonso’s team reach the top of the Bundesliga standings after 22 games.
