Liverpool manager Arne Slot is poised to sign a £55 million Premier League star after being turned down by Martin Zubimendi, making this player Liverpool’s first signing of the summer

With only a few weeks left in the current transfer window, Liverpool and Newcastle appear to have some deals they still wish to complete.

Both clubs have had a relatively quiet summer, but there’s still an opportunity to address key areas.

Liverpool is looking to fund a transfer for Anthony Gordon by selling Luis Diaz.

As the 2024/25 season begins this weekend, both Arne Slot and Eddie Howe will likely prefer to avoid major squad changes before their first matches of the season.

Liverpool will face Ipswich Town at Portman Road, while Newcastle will host newly promoted Southampton.

However, these matches might be too soon for any last-minute transfers, although reports from Fichajes indicate Liverpool could accept an offer of around £50m for their Colombian winger, Luis Diaz.

Despite his evident skill, Diaz has struggled to establish himself at Anfield, showing inconsistency with performances that range from excellent to disappointing.

This lack of consistency might have led Liverpool to consider him expendable.

Newcastle’s winger, Anthony Gordon, has been of interest to Liverpool for some time, but neither Gordon nor Newcastle have shown strong interest in pursuing the deal.

Consequently, completing this transfer could be challenging, but with time remaining in the window, Liverpool might still see a chance—especially since Gordon has not publicly dismissed the rumors.
