PGMOL make huge change ahead of new Premier League season and fans think it will cause chaos for one player

PGMOL is implementing a major change for the 2024/25 Premier League season, and fans anticipate it will cause significant disruption.

The Professional Game Match Officials Limited, responsible for officiating in English football and overseeing VAR operations, is introducing several key updates for the new season. This includes the debut of semi-automated offside technology.

Additionally, the Premier League has created a Match Centre Twitter account to provide live explanations of VAR decisions and share communications from the VAR Hub in Stockley Park. There will also be a minor adjustment to handball rules and a potential significant impact from a revision in how holding during set pieces is enforced.

According to The Times, PGMOL will be stricter in penalizing holding, blocking, or obstructing, especially during set pieces. This includes any interference with a goalkeeper’s movement or ability to reach the ball, likely resulting in more penalties and potentially leading to more disallowed goals.

Fans are particularly concerned about how this change will affect Ben White, with some speculating that the adjustment might target him or change his play style.
