Liverpool Star Could Leave The Club To Join Xabi Alonso’s Side Bayer Leverkusen

As the transfer window nears its end, Liverpool may face player departures rather than new arrivals. Despite high hopes, the summer has been unusually quiet for the Reds, with no new signings added to the roster. With just 15 days left in the window, there is a pressing need to enhance the squad, particularly after a third-place finish in the league and a disappointing Europa League performance.

Instead of reinforcing their team, Liverpool might see a crucial player leave for Bayer Leverkusen, now under the management of former Liverpool player Xabi Alonso. According to De Telegraaf, multiple clubs are eyeing Liverpool defender Sepp van den Berg, with Bayer Leverkusen being a prominent suitor.

Van den Berg, who has been on loan at Preston North End, Schalke, and Mainz in recent seasons, returned to Liverpool this summer. Although he has shown potential, he is currently behind Virgil van Dijk, Ibrahima Konate, Joe Gomez, and Jarrel Quansah in the defensive lineup.

Given the limited playing time he is expected to have this season, van den Berg reportedly wishes to leave Liverpool. While the club had hoped to strengthen their team, they now face the challenge of keeping key players amidst interest from other clubs.
