Barcelona have reportedly begun talks with the representatives of RB Leipzig midfielder Dani Olmo.
Spanish outlet Jijantes indicates that discussions took place on Wednesday morning and afternoon, with Olmo’s father present in the latter meeting.
Olmo seems ready for a new challenge after over four years with Leipzig. Although he has started only 14 of 29 Bundesliga games this season, he has still been effective, scoring four goals and providing five assists.
As an experienced Spain international, Olmo has the potential to thrive at Barcelona. His arrival could intensify competition within the squad, particularly for players like Pedri and Ferran Torres. Additionally, he might be a potential replacement for Joao Felix, who is expected to return to Atletico Madrid in the summer.
Olmo is reported to have an active release clause of €60 million, a sum that Barcelona could manage with potential player sales.
Premier League clubs are also interested in Olmo. Manchester City recently talked with his representatives, suggesting they might pursue him alongside their interest in Bayern Munich’s Jamal Musiala. Manchester United is also linked with Olmo, though their primary focus appears to be on strengthening their defense.
Chelsea and Tottenham are seen as less likely contenders for the 25-year-old midfielder.
