DEAL CLOSE: Manchester United new signing arriving in style to complete Medical today, jersey number confirmed as announcement will be done today

Manchester United are actively seeking a new holding midfielder as the transfer deadline approaches, with their main focus on securing Manuel Ugarte from Paris Saint-Germain. The Red Devils have made Ugarte their top priority but face the challenge of meeting PSG’s high £51 million asking price.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, United are considering an alternative approach: negotiating a loan deal for the 23-year-old Uruguayan midfielder with an obligation to buy later. This strategy is currently being discussed between the clubs, while Ugarte’s agent, Jorge Mendes, is in talks with PSG. Ugarte is eager to join Manchester United and has already agreed to personal terms with the club.

Ugarte, known for his relentless work rate, has earned praise from PSG’s official site as “tireless.” He is reportedly “desperate” to move to Manchester United and has been waiting since late July. Despite their efforts, United have struggled to meet PSG’s financial demands, leading them to explore the loan option.

This potential solution might be attractive to PSG, especially after the injury setback of Goncalo Ramos. With PSG likely to pursue a high-profile striker, they might prefer to secure an outgoing transfer first to adhere to Financial Fair Play rules. Additionally, PSG has already signed Joao Neves from Benfica as a replacement for Ugarte, which could make accepting United’s offer more feasible.
