Al-Khelaifi offers Barcelona star more than 20 times his salary to sign with Paris Saint-Germain

Barcelona is actively working to enhance its squad to compete strongly in all competitions for the upcoming season under German coach Hans Flick. Notably, the club has secured the signing of Dani Olmo from Leipzig, marking him as their first acquisition of the transfer window.

However, Barcelona faces a challenging situation as Paris Saint-Germain is reportedly prepared to offer Firmin a contract with a salary 20 times higher than what he currently earns at Barcelona. His current annual salary at Barcelona is about 250,000 euros, while PSG’s offer is 5 million euros per year, a substantial increase for the young player who, despite being among the lower-paid members of the team, has delivered performances well beyond his current remuneration.

Additionally, PSG’s offer extends beyond just financial incentives. Luis Enrique, familiar with Spanish football and recognizing young talent, views Firmin as a potential cornerstone for the future and is ready to offer him a prominent role from the start, a position he does not yet hold at Barcelona.

In response to PSG’s interest and other clubs’ potential offers, Barcelona has swiftly moved to negotiate a new contract for Firmin. Their strategy includes not only improving his salary to reflect his contributions but also raising his buyout clause from its current 400 million euros to potentially one billion euros, aligning with the clauses of players like Pedri, Balde, Ronald Araujo, Lamine Yamal, and Gavi.

Despite the lucrative offers from PSG, Barcelona remains confident that Firmin’s dedication to the club and its project under Hansi Flick will outweigh financial temptations. The club’s football director, Deco, has already engaged with Firmin’s agent to expedite negotiations and ensure the player remains a part of Barcelona for years to come.
