Manchester United has been notably active in the Premier League transfer market this summer, but their efforts are not yet complete. Sir Jim Ratcliffe is determined to secure at least one more significant addition following Manuel Ugarte’s arrival, with five players expected to leave before the transfer window shuts.
Ratcliffe, having invested £1.3 billion for a 27.7% stake in Manchester United earlier this year, now holds full control over the sporting decisions at Old Trafford.
The tycoon is already making substantial changes to the team, aiming to restore the club’s reputation as a major force in both English and European football. He has already committed approximately £140 million on new signings, including Joshua Zirkzee, Leny Yoro, Matthijs De Ligt, and Noussair Mazraoui.
Despite these additions, Ratcliffe is not finished and is looking to bring in an additional midfielder and potentially strengthen the left-back position.
Good news for United is that their fifth signing of the window is imminent. Reports indicate that a deal for Ugarte is nearing completion. The Uruguayan midfielder, who has expressed a strong desire to join United, has already settled on personal terms. However, the €60 million valuation set by Paris Saint-Germain and their unwillingness to negotiate posed a challenge.
Given Ugarte’s insistence on moving to Old Trafford, PSG has made a concession, agreeing to an adjusted arrangement that will see the player join Manchester United on a season-long loan.
