Sancho has returned to Manchester United’s first-team setup this summer, a year after his widely publicized dispute with manager Erik ten Hag, which resulted in his exclusion from the squad.
After spending the latter half of last season on loan at Borussia Dortmund, the London-born winger seemed to have patched things up with ten Hag, joining United’s pre-season tour in the United States. However, his future is once again uncertain after being omitted from the squad for United’s Premier League opener against Fulham last Friday. Despite having an ear infection before the match, ten Hag’s remark about preferring “other players” suggested there might be deeper issues.
Currently, at Old Trafford, Marcus Rashford, Amad Diallo, and Alejandro Garnacho are prioritized over Sancho, with Antony also competing for a spot in the team.
RMC Sport reports that Juventus have initiated talks to acquire the United winger, with negotiations between the clubs in progress. The report indicates that United is asking for around €30 million (£25 million) for Sancho. Chelsea and Barcelona are also rumored to be interested in him.
During a press conference on Thursday afternoon, ten Hag did not confirm whether Sancho would be part of the squad for Saturday’s Premier League match against Brighton. He did, however, caution Sancho and the rest of the team about accepting his tough decisions regarding team selection.
When questioned about Sancho’s potential inclusion this weekend, ten Hag responded, “We will see. We have a squad, and I hope we will have a squad with double positions. Once we move into the season after September 1, not all players can be selected, but we need them all throughout the season.
“We have to manage it. The players’ attitude is crucial. They may be disappointed at times, but they must cope with it. Success is achieved as a team.
“The trophies are decided next May, and until then, we need every player in the squad to be highly motivated. This is not merely an expectation but a demand from the squad.”
