Arsenal is considering the acquisition of Alexander Isak from Newcastle United and is now aware of the potential financial implications. Isak is one of several strikers Arsenal is evaluating, with other candidates including Viktor Gyokeres, Victor Osimhen, Joshua Zirkzee, and Benjamin Sesko. However, Isak is the only one who has already demonstrated his capabilities in the Premier League, making him a prime target for Arsenal.
To retain Isak, Newcastle is reportedly aiming to negotiate a new contract with the Swedish forward, who has made 44 appearances for his national team. The club is keen to extend Isak’s tenure by offering him a pay increase and a release clause in his new contract. This effort comes despite Newcastle facing a 20% salary cut for all players due to their failure to qualify for the Champions League. Nevertheless, the club is prepared to make an exception for Isak, highlighting his significance to the team.
While Newcastle’s intention to secure Isak with a new deal would demonstrate their ambition and ability to keep key players, there are indications that a significant offer could still persuade them to sell. Former Everton chief executive Keith Wyness suggested that an offer around £100 million could convince Newcastle to part with Isak this summer. On the Inside Track podcast, Wyness lauded Isak as a “high-quality finisher” and noted that he would be an excellent addition to Arsenal’s attack, despite some past injury issues.
In addition to Isak, Arsenal has also shown interest in Ajax striker Brian Brobbey. The 22-year-old Dutch international had a standout season, scoring 22 goals across all competitions, drawing attention from both Arsenal and Manchester United. Brobbey indicated on TikTok that an €80 million (£68 million) fee would be necessary to move him from Ajax. He expressed a preference for a future move to Manchester United under his former coach Erik ten Hag but did not completely rule out a transfer to other clubs, keeping the possibility of joining Arsenal open.
As the summer transfer window nears its end, Arsenal’s pursuit of a new striker is a major focus. Securing a deal for Isak or another top target like Brobbey will be crucial for strengthening the team’s attack for the upcoming season.
