United will be eager to recover after their extra-time defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion when they face Liverpool at home in the Premier League on Sunday.
The Red Devils have struggled to find form in the 2024–25 season. They were defeated in the Community Shield on penalties, suffered a heavy loss at the Amex Stadium, and narrowly defeated Fulham. A victory against Liverpool might kickstart their campaign.
However, Erik ten Hag continues to face challenges at Old Trafford. Manuel Ugarte, who was acquired on the final day of the transfer window, has yet to be registered, leaving the Dutch manager without him. Additionally, many of his new Manchester United teammates are sidelined due to injury.

Manchester United’s defensive situation is dire, with senior left-backs Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia both injured. Consequently, Diogo Dalot is expected to play on the left, while new signing Noussair Mazraoui will likely take up the right-back position.
The team is also missing another new recruit. Leny Yoro, who sustained a significant injury during preseason, is unlikely to return until at least November. Additionally, Victor Lindelof, another center-back, is sidelined with a toe injury.
