Liverpool are keen to avoid losing one of their crucial players on a free transfer at the end of the season.
Three key players are in the final year of their contracts: Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil Van Dijk, and Mo Salah. From January, they can negotiate pre-contract agreements with clubs outside of England.
While Alexander-Arnold and Van Dijk’s futures are uncertain due to their links with Real Madrid and Saudi Arabian clubs, Liverpool hope to resolve Salah’s situation soon.
Liverpool Aim to Secure Mo Salah’s Future Quickly
The Egyptian forward, who received a substantial £150 million offer from Al Ittihad last summer, recently hinted that this might be his final season at Anfield.
“I was coming to the game, thinking, ‘this could be the last time,’” Salah told Sky Sports after Liverpool’s recent victory over Manchester United.
“Nobody from the club has discussed a new contract with me, so I’m just treating this as my last season and will see what happens at the end,” he added. “I feel free to play football – we’ll see what next year brings.”
Given these comments, Liverpool, as reported by Football Insider, are now preparing to initiate contract talks with the prolific 32-year-old. They aim to finalize Salah’s future before the New Year and are optimistic about reaching an agreement.
Salah’s current deal, signed in 2022, makes him the highest-paid player at Liverpool, earning £350,000 per week (Spotrac).
