Arne Slot was instructed to enhance the performance of four specific players during his Liverpool interview, according to a recent report.
Slot, 45, took over from Jurgen Klopp as the Liverpool manager earlier this summer and has had a successful start at Anfield. The team has won all three of their opening Premier League matches this season, including a notable 3-0 triumph over Manchester United.
The Dutch manager has already made a positive impact with fans and has seen significant improvement from several first-team players since his arrival.
It has now been revealed that Slot was notified by the club’s owners that they had pinpointed four players for further development, according to a report from The Athletic.
Ibrahima Konate, Luis Diaz, Dominik Szoboszlai, and Ryan Gravenberch have each had individual discussions with Slot about enhancing their performances this season.
Konate, who was replaced by Jarell Quansah in the starting lineup last season and did not play for France in Euro 2024, took over from Quansah at halftime in the opening match against Ipswich and has continued strongly this season.
Szoboszlai and Gravenberch have been encouraged to add more energy to their midfield play, particularly as Liverpool missed out on signing Martin Zubimendi.
Diaz has been advised to develop a more decisive edge in front of goal, a trait that was evident during his two-goal performance against United earlier this month.
It seems everything is progressing as planned for Slot, though the Reds face a busy schedule when club football resumes after the international break.
With the Champions League approaching, Slot acknowledges that higher expectations will be placed on his players as the season intensifies. “I don’t think there has been a significant difference,” Slot said following the win at Old Trafford in August. “If you have followed Liverpool for a long time, they have always pressed very high, and that’s what we are aiming for now as well.
“Three games in, with the first two against Ipswich and Brentford being tough, I wasn’t expecting them to finish in the top nine.
“Today we played against a strong United team with a lot of quality, and I was impressed that we managed to keep a clean sheet, although our goalkeeper had to step up a few times.
“A good start, but there’s still much to prove.”
