Liverpool is reportedly keen on signing 29-year-old Joshua Kimmich from Bayern Munich this summer. Nonetheless, they will face strong competition from Barcelona, Manchester City, and Arsenal for his signature.

Tutto Juve indicates that Kimmich is open to leaving Bayern Munich. With new manager Arne Slot looking to enhance Liverpool’s midfield in the transfer window, a move for Kimmich appears increasingly plausible. Following Jurgen Klopp’s departure, the new manager is receiving support from the club to bring in new players and make adjustments to the squad. Despite last summer’s investments in midfielders after Jordan Henderson and Fabinho’s exits, Liverpool is prepared to add another midfielder this summer.

The additions of Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai, Ryan Gravenberch, and Wataru Endo have strengthened Liverpool’s midfield depth, but the team still seeks a player who can play at the base of the midfield, just ahead of the defense. They view Kimmich as the ideal choice to provide balance and versatility, given his ability to also play as a right-back.

Kimmich could be an excellent acquisition for Liverpool, enabling rotation between Trent Alexander-Arnold and Kimmich in midfield and full-back roles. This would offer the team greater flexibility and give the manager more tactical options. However, Liverpool must compete with Premier League rivals Arsenal and Manchester City, and former Bayern manager Hansi Flick is keen to reunite with Kimmich at Barcelona.

Acquiring Kimmich would bring a winning mentality and valuable experience to Liverpool, which is especially important after Klopp’s departure. With Kimmich’s contract expiring next summer, he is expected to be available at a lower price.
