Manchester United’s captain, Bruno Fernandes, reacted to Jadon Sancho’s Instagram post celebrating his standout performance in Chelsea’s win over Bournemouth. Sancho, who substituted for Pedro Neto at halftime, made a significant contribution on the left wing and assisted Christopher Nkunku’s winning goal.

 

Sancho, currently on loan from Manchester United, expressed his enthusiasm on Instagram, stating: “Excited to make my @chelseafc debut, and even better with a victory.”

 

Fernandes, who was Sancho’s captain at Old Trafford, replied to the post with: “What a player you are keep smiling.”

 

Fernandes’ response triggered varied reactions from fans. Some were critical, with one fan commenting, “Be serious, Bruno,” and another simply stating, “Delete.” Other fans voiced their displeasure with comments like, “Are you joking, Bruno?!” and “What kind of captain are you ? Roy Keane would have pulled you out by the collar for this.” Another critic remarked, “He’s disrespected the club and its fans.”

 

On the other hand, some defended Fernandes, with one fan noting, “He’s just supporting his friend…? This is the issue with today’s world.”

 

Previously, Fernandes had provided an assist in Manchester United’s 3-0 win over Southampton. Meanwhile, Chelsea’s manager Enzo Maresca seemed to indirectly critique United’s Erik Ten Hag, who had benched Sancho following a public disagreement over training conduct. Maresca remarked, “I think Jadon needs support. That’s what I observed when we talked before he joined us. He’s keen to prove himself, but the key is to enjoy the game. Happy players perform better.”
