According to the Turkish source Nutuk, Arsenal has made an initial offer to sign Fenerbahce’s left-back, Ferdi Kadioglu, during the summer transfer window. The 24-year-old has been frequently mentioned in connection with Arsenal, with indications that personal terms had already been settled between the club and the Turkish international.
Nutuk reports that Arsenal’s opening bid for Kadioglu is £17 million. However, they are not the only interested party, as Borussia Dortmund has also put forward a similar offer. Despite this interest, Fenerbahce is hesitant to let Kadioglu go for that amount and has set an asking price of £30 million, which would set a record for a player sold from the Turkish Super Lig.
Given the circumstances, it appears that a deal for Kadioglu is unlikely. He started his career as a forward, adept at playing on either wing and in attacking midfield, but has since transitioned to a defensive role. While Kadioglu is right-footed, he has demonstrated versatility by playing as a full-back on both sides, with his preferred position being left-back.
Currently, Arsenal has a strong roster for left-back. Oleksandr Zinchenko filled that role in the match against Bayer Leverkusen, and the club also has Riccardo Calafiori, Jakub Kiwior, Jurrien Timber, and Takehiro Tomiyasu available. Kieran Tierney is another option, though he is sidelined with a long-term hamstring injury.
Given Arsenal’s depth in this position, it seems improbable that they will actively pursue Kadioglu, who was born in the Netherlands. Speculation regarding Arsenal’s interest may have originated from his agent, potentially to motivate other European clubs, including Borussia Dortmund, to meet Fenerbahce’s price.
At this point in the transfer window, it seems unlikely that Arsenal will seek additional defensive signings. Their focus may instead turn toward bolstering the midfield and potentially acquiring a center-forward, with Mikel Merino from Real Sociedad emerging as a key target.
Regarding the striker position, Arsenal has not been closely linked to any new signings. However, this could change if Eddie Nketiah departs, as Olympique Marseille has recently made a new offer for the 25-year-old striker, who appears open to the transfer. If Nketiah leaves, Arsenal may then look to secure a new forward before the window closes.
