Surprise goalkeeper offers to join Barcelona to compensate for Stegen’s absence and a sho.cking decision from Flick

Barcelona has suffered a significant setback with the announcement of goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen’s injury, which is serious enough to sideline him for the entire season.

The club has stated that ter Stegen will require surgery due to a complete tear in his knee tendon. The injury occurred at the end of the first half when he landed awkwardly on his right foot while attempting to catch a cross, necessitating a stretcher to remove him from the field as he lay in pain.

According to El Nacional, Polish goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny has offered to join Barcelona to fill the gap left by ter Stegen’s lengthy absence. Szczesny would come to the club as a free agent, having finished his contract with Juventus last summer.

However, the report also mentions that German coach Hansi Flick has reservations about Szczesny, viewing him as a significant liability for Juventus in recent seasons. He even jokingly remarked to a member of Barcelona’s technical staff that young talent Lamine Yamal could stop balls better than Szczesny.
