Liverpool defender Calum Scanlon has returned to the club for further assessment and treatment after getting injured while on loan at Millwall.
Club reporter James Pearce from The Athletic noted that the 19-year-old fullback likely suffered a stress fracture in his back, which is projected to keep him sidelined for about three months.
Earlier today, head coach Arne Slot announced that Alisson Becker is expected to be available for Liverpool’s next Premier League game against Wolves.
Scanlon had just begun his loan in the Championship, making only an 11-minute appearance for Millwall in their 1-0 defeat to Luton Town in mid-September.
Although Scanlon joined Millwall for a season-long loan, his manager indicated on Wednesday that he would be leaving, without providing a specific timeline for his recovery.
“We’re very disappointed to lose him because he brought a unique attacking style that we lack in our squad,” said Millwall manager Neil Harris to The Lancashire Post.

Scanlon made his move to Liverpool from Birmingham City in 2020 at the age of 15, in a deal reportedly worth around £500,000.
He signed his first professional contract with Liverpool in 2022 and has made two senior appearances for the club during the 2023/24 season (against Union SG and Toulouse in the Europa League).
Scanlon has impressed the coaching staff with his potential. At just 19, he has ample time to recover from this injury and continue developing, with the possibility of resuming his loan at Millwall and gaining valuable first-team experience if conditions allow in three months.
