The team’s lackluster first half against Ange Postecoglou’s squad began with Brennan Johnson scoring from a Mickey van de Ven assist. Fernandes was later sent off for a reckless kick at James Maddison.
Tottenham took advantage of United’s difficulties, with Dejan Kulusevski scoring early in the second half, leading away fans to chant for Ten Hag’s firing.
Dominic Solanke then added a third goal, deepening the frustration of United fans, some of whom had already voiced their dissatisfaction before halftime.
Fans expressed their anger on social media, with one calling for a “dark arts coach,” suggesting the team needs to adopt a more aggressive style and demanding Ten Hag be let go.
Another criticized the absence of a clear game plan, stating that good players seemed to perform worse under Ten Hag’s management.
One fan highlighted the team’s disorganization, while another questioned Ten Hag’s ability to make positive changes at Old Trafford.
Pundit Gary Neville was particularly harsh in his evaluation of the team’s performance, especially regarding Fernandes and Marcus Rashford. He described United’s first-half effort as “disgraceful” and among the worst under Ten Hag, specifically criticizing Fernandes for his reckless challenge and Rashford for his poor touch leading to Spurs’ opening goal.
