Arsenal’s recent acquisition Mikel Merino has shared his surprise upon joining the club, highlighting the distinctive and demanding training techniques used at London Colney.
Merino, who made his debut as a substitute against PSG after recovering from a training injury, characterized the Arsenal training program as unlike anything he had experienced previously. In an interview with CBS Sports, he remarked, “They do some things that I have never seen in my career. The methods they use are completely new to me, so obviously, it takes some time to adapt.”
The Spanish midfielder pointed out the mental and physical difficulties players encounter on a daily basis. “When you get it, you’re on a different level because they challenge you every single day—not only physically, but mentally. It keeps you sharp mentally, which is something you notice in the game.”
