Manchester United has several players with contracts expiring at the end of this season, presenting a chance to lower their wage expenses.
One of these players is Christian Eriksen, and it seems the club has not initiated discussions about a contract extension.
In an interview with Bold/Ekstra Bladet in Denmark, Eriksen stated, “As stated to Bold, the parties are not discussing extending the agreement.”
This situation puts the 32-year-old midfielder in a position to make significant choices in the coming months, particularly regarding his ambitions with Denmark’s national team.
Eriksen recognized that his next club decision will influence his national team opportunities, explaining, “It will be a bit of a balancing act. I’m not getting any younger, so those considerations will be part of the decision about your career, the national team, and everything.”
He pointed out that during his time at clubs like Tottenham and Inter, he didn’t have to worry much about his spot on the national team. However, upon joining Brentford, he had to demonstrate his value before moving to United.
This season, Eriksen has been a crucial player for Erik ten Hag, appearing in eight matches for the club.
