Real Madrid has reportedly redirected their focus to Arsenal’s Brazilian defender Gabriel Magalhães, valued at £65 million, after learning that both William Saliba and Bukayo Saka are not available for transfer.
Initially, the Spanish club targeted Saliba due to his exceptional performances last season, which made him a key player in Mikel Arteta’s defensive structure. However, Arsenal has made it clear that Saliba is integral to their future plans, having recently signed a new contract, making it nearly impossible for Real Madrid to secure him.
Real Madrid greatly admired Saliba’s attributes, such as his composure, ball distribution, and defensive leadership, especially as they seek defensive reinforcements following the exits of key players.
Despite their financial strength and the appeal of playing for one of Europe’s elite teams, Arsenal’s firm position on Saliba has left Madrid with no alternative but to consider other defensive targets.
As a result, Real Madrid has now turned their attention to Gabriel Magalhães, who has also made a significant impact for Arsenal. The 26-year-old has been crucial to Arsenal’s resurgence in the Premier League, drawing the interest of several top European clubs.
Gabriel’s physicality, aerial ability, and game-reading skills make him an attractive prospect for Real Madrid, particularly as they need a left-footed center-back to bolster their defense. While Arsenal is reportedly more open to negotiations regarding Gabriel than Saliba, they remain hesitant to part with another essential defender, as the Brazilian is vital to Arteta’s squad. Nonetheless, reports indicate that Real Madrid is preparing a substantial offer, potentially including a player-plus-cash deal, hoping this will entice Arsenal into talks.
With the transfer window closing soon, it remains uncertain whether Real Madrid will convince Arsenal to let Gabriel go.
If this deal does not come to fruition, Madrid may need to seek other options for defensive reinforcement. The competition for high-quality defenders in Europe continues, and Real Madrid’s pursuit of Gabriel will be closely monitored in the upcoming weeks.
