Ferguson had signed this deal upon his retirement in 2013 and has been actively involved in club events since then. In a bid to cut costs, Ratcliffe conveyed to the 82-year-old that his salary exceeding £2 million would be terminated. Reports indicate that Ferguson was directly informed of this decision. Sources suggest that their relationship remains cordial, with no conflict between Ferguson and the club, where he continues to serve as a non-executive director.
The two met for the first time since this announcement on Sunday afternoon in Manchester during the game against Chelsea, and there seemed to be no animosity between them.
