Fabrizio Romano has delivered exciting news for Liverpool fans this evening, confirming a positive development that’s sure to boost spirits among the supporters.

Fabrizio Romano has suggested that Liverpool may soon begin contract negotiations with one of their standout performers this season.

The contracts of Mo Salah, Trent Alexander-Arnold, and Virgil van Dijk remain uncertain, with all three players set to become free agents next June, unless new deals are agreed. However, Romano recently reported that it might only be “a matter of time” before Ibrahima Konate signs an extension.

Romano also indicated that another player in Arne Slot’s squad could be the next in line for contract talks once the situation with Konate is resolved.

**Romano’s Contract Insight**

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano commented: “Liverpool did well to secure Luis Diaz in August. Several important clubs were ready to pursue him, but it never came close to happening. Some clubs showed interest, but Liverpool made sure to present a strong case to Diaz, outlining their vision for the club’s future and his role within it.”

Romano continued: “After Konate’s contract renewal, I wouldn’t be surprised to see Liverpool negotiate a new deal with Diaz as well. The club wants to extend his stay, so let’s see what happens.”

**Diaz Deserves an Improved Deal, But Other Priorities Come First**

Currently, Diaz is tied to Liverpool until 2027, so a contract renewal doesn’t appear to be urgent. However, given his impressive form this season, club officials may be keen to offer him a new and improved deal. Tony Cascarino recently praised Diaz’s “fantastic” performances on talkSPORT.

There are discrepancies in reports about Diaz’s current salary—Salary Sport lists it at £90,000 per week, while Capology states it is £55,000. Regardless of the exact figure, the club might feel it’s time to reward him with a pay rise, especially after his hat-trick against Bayer Leverkusen, which took his tally to nine goals for the season, making him joint-top scorer alongside Salah.

While many Liverpool fans would likely support an improved contract for Diaz, there is a greater sense of urgency surrounding new deals for Trent, Van Dijk, and Salah. Securing their long-term futures is likely to be the club’s top priority.

The next few weeks and months will be crucial in ensuring that the squad Arne Slot has inherited, and is currently getting the best out of, remains intact and continues to thrive.
