**Barcelona Turns Down Pep Guardiola’s Offer of Jack Grealish Amid History of Failed City Transfers**

Barcelona’s recent attempts to sign players from Manchester City have largely been unsuccessful, and this time, Joan Laporta and Deco have decided not to repeat the same mistakes. According to reports from El Nacional, Pep Guardiola offered Jack Grealish to Barcelona, but the Catalan club quickly rejected the proposal.

**A History of Unsuccessful Transfers from City**

Over the years, Barcelona has brought several players from City, but few have met expectations:

– İlkay Gündoğan was the only genuine success, but his time in La Liga lasted just one season before he returned to Manchester City.

– Eric Garcia joined on a free transfer but has had difficulty securing a long-term future at the club.

– Sergio Agüero, another free signing, was sadly forced to retire due to a heart condition.

– Ferran Torres was Barcelona’s largest investment from City, costing €55 million, but he has not justified his price tag and is expected to be sold in the summer.

**Why Barcelona Rejected Grealish**

Despite being Manchester City’s most expensive signing at €120 million, Grealish has struggled to become a key player under Guardiola. This season, he has fallen down the depth chart behind Phil Foden, Savio Moreira, Bernardo Silva, and Jeremy Doku. With City’s recent signing of Omar Marmoush, Grealish’s future at the club is uncertain, prompting his agent to explore alternatives, including Barcelona.

However, Laporta and Deco have learned from previous mistakes and have shown no interest in signing Grealish, particularly due to his inconsistent performances and off-field issues.

**Barcelona’s New Transfer Strategy**

Rather than risking big-money signings that may not perform, Barcelona is now focusing on more sustainable acquisitions, prioritizing young talents who align with the club’s long-term goals. Given ongoing financial limitations, avoiding another costly mistake like Ferran Torres remains a key priority.
