Kylian Mbappe spoke fluent Spanish as he opened up on his “dream” move to Real Madrid during an emotional presentation inside the Bernabeu.
Real Madrid showcased their latest ‘galactico’ in what was hailed as “the most spectacular unveiling of a soccer player in history”.
The 25-year-old forward, set to become Madrid’s highest earner at £12.8 million per year, underwent medical tests and signed his contract at the club’s Valdebebas training ground on Tuesday morning.
Mbappe then headed to the Bernabeu, where 80,000 fans and several club legends, including Zinedine Zidane, celebrated his highly anticipated arrival. Standing alongside Real Madrid’s 15 Champions League trophies, club president Florentino Perez introduced
Mbappe in a memorable moment, saying: “Twelve years ago, Zizou [Zidane] brought a young boy to our training ground, and now he is the star who will lead us to future success. Today, we welcome Kylian Mbappe.”
Perez continued, saying: “Welcome to your home, and congratulations on achieving your dream.
I understand what this moment means to you and your family. We remember how your eyes sparkled when you first came here at the age of 13.”
Mbappe, visibly moved as he approached the stage, delivered a heartfelt speech in Spanish.
“I have dreamed of playing for Real Madrid for many years, and today my dream has finally come true. I am incredibly happy,” he expressed.
“Since I was a child, I had only one dream: to play for Real Madrid. It means so much to me to be here. Thank you to all the fans who have come here to share this moment with me.”
He continued with determination, “I have another dream: to honor this club, the best in the world. I will give everything, everything I have inside me, for this club.”
Mbappe also made a poignant remark, “We won, guys. We won. I’m here,” which could be seen as a reference to his successful seven-year journey with Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain.
The moment we’ve all eagerly awaited has arrived—Kylian Mbappé is finally here, and it’s truly wonderful. Just a day after his much-anticipated move to Real Madrid was confirmed, Mbappé made some revealing remarks about his final season at PSG.
Back in June of last year, the French international formally notified PSG of his decision not to exercise the option to extend his contract beyond 2024.
Despite PSG’s reportedly positive talks about a new contract, Mbappé’s choice came as a surprise, especially since the club was actively trying to secure his continued stay.
In the subsequent weeks, Mbappé found himself marginalized from the first-team setup. Notably, he was excluded from PSG’s pre-season tour of Japan and South Korea following the appointment of Luis Enrique.
After much speculation about his future, Kylian Mbappé eventually rejoined the PSG first-team setup and played a crucial role in helping them secure another Ligue 1 title, scoring 27 goals in the league. However, shortly after this achievement, he confirmed his departure from the club.
In June, Mbappé reflected on his time at PSG, describing it as ending sadly.
During a press conference before France’s friendly against Luxembourg, he explained, “I understood that I would no longer play for PSG after I communicated my desire to leave at the end of the season.
I was told this directly and quite forcefully, so I was convinced I wouldn’t be playing. Luis Enrique and Luis Campos intervened and saved me. Without them, I would never have set foot on the pitch again. That’s the truth.”
