Antonio Conte, who has been unemployed since leaving Tottenham Hotspur last year, is gearing up for a new role in football, with a return to Serie A likely for the Italian manager.
Conte has occasionally been linked with Manchester United over the years, but now, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano, he is set to take over at Napoli.
Napoli had a disastrous season defending their historic Serie A title, finishing 10th just a year after winning it decisively.
Conte aims to rectify this immediately and will be looking to the transfer market to strengthen his squad in his characteristic style.
Even before his move to Napoli has been officially confirmed, potential transfers are already being discussed. One name that has come up is Sofyan Amrabat, who is increasingly likely to leave Manchester United.
Italian agent Gigi Iacomino has analyzed the situation and identified Amrabat as a player Conte would want to bring to Napoli.
“Conte would have proposed several names to De Laurentiis,” Iacomino said, as quoted by Spazio Napoli via United in Focus.
“(Conte) is aiming for major defensive signings. He would like at least one, if not two, of (Milan) Skriniar, Kim (Min-Jae), and (Alessandro) Buongiorno for his defense.”
“In midfield, one of the names Conte would like is indeed Amrabat.”
Amrabat finished the season strongly at Old Trafford, but it is highly unlikely that United will make his temporary stay permanent.
The Moroccan international joined the club on deadline day last year but has generally had a frustrating season.
Amrabat will return to Fiorentina, where he has one year left on his contract and will be available for a relatively low price.
