While Williams is open to joining Barcelona, and although German coach Hansi Flick admires him, Flick prefers another option for his team, making Williams a more suitable signing for Barcelona.
The newspaper reported that Neco Williams’ stats are quite impressive: he scored 8 goals and provided 17 assists in 38 matches. Although his shooting accuracy needs improvement, he is making progress in this area, as reflected in his performance. Barcelona would need to pay his release clause of 60 million euros to secure his transfer from Bilbao.
The newspaper also noted that Hansi Flick would rather use the 60 million euros on another winger who has scored more goals but offered fewer assists. That player is Luis Diaz, Liverpool’s star, who scored 13 goals and provided 13 assists in 51 matches this season.
The newspaper reported that Luis Diaz is an admirer of Barcelona and is eager to join the Catalan club. Although his contract with Liverpool does not have a release clause, it is valid until 2027, and Liverpool will not let him go for less than 60 million euros. Hansi Flick prefers Diaz over Neco Williams and has communicated this preference to Barcelona’s top officials.
Several English media sources suggest that with Jurgen Klopp’s departure and Arne Slot’s arrival, Luis Diaz may no longer be a starter at Liverpool. As a result, Liverpool might be open to selling him if they receive a suitable offer. While multiple clubs are interested in Diaz, Barcelona remains his top choice if he does leave.
