This timing coincides with the end of President Joan Laporta’s term and his ambition to secure a major signing like Haaland to enhance his chances of re-election. Additionally, 2026 will mark the completion of the Nou Camp’s renovation, making a high-profile acquisition particularly significant.
The report further reveals that during a recent discussion with Haaland’s representative, Sports Director Deco indicated that Barcelona will only be in a position to sign the Norwegian forward in two years, once the club’s financial health improves.
Haaland’s current contract with Manchester City extends until 2027. However, it is reported that City is working to persuade Haaland to agree to a new contract.
