Liverpool’s pursuit of Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi is advancing, though an agreement has not yet been reached, according to the latest update from Fabrizio Romano this morning.
“Discussions are continuing with both the player and the club. Liverpool is eager to sign Zubimendi and remains hopeful and positive about finalizing the deal, although there are still steps to be completed,” Romano stated in his Daily Briefing.
“This would be an excellent acquisition, as Zubimendi is an exceptional midfielder with a unique footballing intellect, placing him in the top tier. He may not be as prominent across Europe as some other well-known players, but his performances in the Champions League and with the Spanish national team have been outstanding.
“That’s not the end of Liverpool’s activity, as they are expected to be active in the transfer market throughout August. While their immediate focus is on Zubimendi, there may be additional signings on the horizon for Liverpool.”
