DEAL COMPLETED: Arsenal offer to sign £60m striker who netted 17goals for club side last season have now been approved to join, player accepted United offer last night – Confirmed by Fabrizio Romano this morning

Arsenal have reportedly expressed interest in acquiring Atalanta forward Ademola Lookman, as per journalist Graeme Bailey.

Since his move from RB Leipzig to Atalanta in 2022, the 26-year-old Nigerian has become an integral part of the team. Last season, he excelled with 17 goals and 10 assists in 45 matches across various competitions, playing a crucial role in Atalanta’s triumph in the Europa League, ending a lengthy trophy drought.

However, Lookman might leave Atalanta before the current transfer window closes. His absence from Atalanta’s squad for their Serie A opener against Lecce has intensified speculation about his future.

According to Bailey’s report for TBR Football, Arsenal have formally shown interest in Lookman and are closely watching his situation. They face significant competition from Liverpool, Manchester City, and Paris Saint-Germain, with PSG showing the most serious interest.

With Lookman valued at around £34 million by Transfermarkt and having two years left on his Atalanta contract, the Italian club holds a strong bargaining position. Atalanta is known for its tough negotiating stance regarding top players, so Arsenal would need to make a substantial offer to secure him.

Lookman’s technical abilities, playmaking skills, and knack for dribbling make him a suitable candidate for Mikel Arteta’s possession-focused strategy at Arsenal.

It remains uncertain if Arsenal will make a formal bid for Lookman before the transfer deadline. Meanwhile, Arsenal started their Premier League campaign with a 2-0 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers and will next face Aston Villa at Villa Park, a match they lost last season, making it a crucial game for Arteta’s side.
