Paul Pogba remains committed to his football career despite facing a four-year suspension due to a positive doping test in August 2023, with both his A and B samples showing the same result. He is contesting this suspension at the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).
Addressing rumors about his potential retirement, Pogba clarified that any suggestions he is leaving football were misunderstood. In an interview with Sky Sport Italia, he stated, “If there’s no video of me announcing my retirement, it means I’m still active. I’m here, staying positive, and fighting what I believe is an injustice.”
Pogba noted that a video circulating online, which seemed to imply the end of his career, was misleadingly edited. He reassured his ongoing dedication to football, asserting, “Pogba is not finished. Until you hear me say otherwise, don’t worry. I still see myself as a player. I’m training, staying positive, and although I’m not playing, I’m cherishing time with my family and watching my children grow.”
Even though he cannot play, Pogba expressed his desire to return to football, comparing himself to a young, aspiring player. He concluded with optimism, “I’m eager to get back to what I love, football.”
Pogba’s statements highlight his resolve to navigate through adversity and resume his football career, contingent on the outcome of his appeal.
Currently at Juventus on a minimal wage and sidelined due to his ban, Pogba clarified that reports about his contract ending on June 30 were incorrect. He confirmed he is still a Juventus player but noted there has been no communication from the club about his future. Despite the ban extending until 2027, Pogba remains hopeful of an earlier return, pending the resolution of his legal challenges.
