The Merseyside club is looking to bolster their defense by acquiring a new centre-back and has also considered new wide forwards due to uncertainties surrounding Luis Diaz’s future.
Additionally, Arne Slot may now be considering a new right-back, as Real Madrid has shown interest in Trent Alexander-Arnold. Christian Falk reports that the England international might be open to a move to the Estadio Santiago Bernabéu, with his current Liverpool contract expiring at the end of next season.
Liverpool’s interest in Frimpong comes after a standout season with Leverkusen, where he scored 14 goals and added 12 assists in 47 games, contributing to his team’s domestic double. According to Sport Bild, Frimpong dreams of joining Liverpool, Manchester City, or Real Madrid, though none of these clubs have made a formal offer yet.
The German outlet indicates that the 23-year-old has a £33.6 million release clause in his contract, which is set to expire this week, suggesting that he might stay with the Bundesliga champions.
Ideally, Slot’s team would prefer to retain their star player and academy graduate, Alexander-Arnold. They would be better off renewing the 25-year-old’s contract rather than pursuing Frimpong.
