Liverpool ‘readying £70m move’ in final week of transfer window that would rock the Premier League

Liverpool are reportedly preparing a £70 million bid in the final week of the transfer window that could shake up the Premier League. This comes amid interest from Manchester United in the player. Liverpool’s manager, Arne Slot, is said to be a significant admirer of the player, as the team currently lacks depth at centre-back following Sepp van den Berg’s move to Brentford for £25 million.

The squad now has four centre-backs—Virgil van Dijk, Ibrahima Konate, Jarell Quansah, and Joe Gomez—competing for two spots. Gomez might leave Anfield this summer, with Newcastle United and Aston Villa reportedly interested in him, and he was excluded from the squad for the Premier League opener against Ipswich Town due to interest from other clubs.

According to The Sun, Liverpool is ready to ‘snatch’ Jarrad Branthwaite from Everton, despite him being heavily linked with a move to Manchester United. Branthwaite is reportedly open to joining Liverpool for a higher-profile club. Liverpool is willing to offer £63 million plus £7 million in add-ons, with Slot a notable supporter of the player. Everton has already rejected two Manchester United bids of £43 million and £50 million. Branthwaite, valued between £70 million and £80 million, had a standout season with Everton and was previously part of the provisional England squad for Euro 2024.
