This summer, Barcelona might leverage Villarreal’s interest in several of their young talents to acquire Álex Baena.
Baena is having an impressive season with Villarreal, having contributed to 17 goals across all competitions, a significant achievement.
Such creativity would greatly benefit Xavi’s Barcelona squad, and the current absence of a player with Baena’s qualities in Catalunya makes him an attractive prospect.
However, the issue for Barcelona is the cost.
Baena’s contract at La Cerámica includes a release clause of about €60 million, which is beyond the reach of Barcelona’s current budget constraints.
According to Sport, Barcelona might attempt to negotiate a lower fee by including some of their top young players in the deal.
Villarreal is reportedly monitoring several of the latest La Masia prospects, and one or two of these players could potentially be used to facilitate Baena’s transfer for the next season.
