Liverpool transfer news as Federico Chiesa price set and Joe Gomez front-runner emerges

Liverpool is exploring the possibility of signing Federico Chiesa from Juventus, and there is also growing clarity about Joe Gomez’s potential move.

Liverpool has shown unexpected interest in Federico Chiesa, with discussions accelerating as the transfer window closes. According to Fabrizio Romano, the transfer is considered “ON,” and Chiesa is reportedly interested in moving to Anfield. Negotiating the terms of the contract is expected to be straightforward.

If completed, this would be the first signing for Arne Slot this summer, although the anticipated deal for Giorgi Mamardashvili would be structured to delay his arrival until 2025. While the move for Chiesa would come with uncertainties, it aligns with Richard Hughes’ strategy of seizing opportunities, now that Liverpool knows the asking price.

On the other hand, Joe Gomez’s situation is also evolving. With speculation about his future, Crystal Palace has emerged as a strong candidate for his transfer. Reports suggest that several clubs are interested, but the London team appears to be leading the chase.

Crystal Palace might lose both of its center-backs, with Joachim Andersen already gone and Marc Guehi nearing a move to Newcastle. If Gomez moves to Crystal Palace, it would benefit all parties: Liverpool would gain a substantial transfer fee, Crystal Palace would acquire a capable center-back, and Gomez would have a chance to showcase his skills.

If Gomez’s transfer goes through, Liverpool will need to use the funds to bolster their squad, as the defense currently appears to be understrength.
