Barcelona’s management is nearing another significant deal in the current summer transfer window to bolster the first team as they prepare for the new season and aim to return to the top. Hans Flick, the team’s coach, emphasized the need to reinforce several positions due to the departure of some key players.
According to the Catalan newspaper Sport, Barcelona is now optimistic about securing Portuguese full-back Joao Cancelo from Manchester City on another loan. The report added that Guardiola is willing to facilitate Cancelo’s move to Camp Nou, particularly as Manchester City is close to bringing back Ilkay Gundogan from Barcelona for free.
The plan is for Barcelona to re-sign Cancelo on loan again, but this time with an option to purchase him permanently at the end of the loan period. The Spanish newspaper also noted that Jorge Mendes, the player’s agent, is managing negotiations with City, who have been informed that Cancelo only wants to join Barcelona.
